Umpires are also strongly encouraged to read the Bank Riding briefing slides (below).
Due to changes in the expectations of bankriders during events, regardless of previous briefing attendance (i.e. a valid briefing in the past 18 months), all bankriders for Torpids must be freshly briefed on their role, legal responsibilities, and what to do in an incident.
The easiest way to receive the briefing is to attend via Teams on Sunday, 19-Feb - see details below. If this is not possible, there will be smaller briefings at Racedesk, with more details to come closer to the date. We encourage all prospective bankriders to attend the online briefing, to avoid any delays in following crews.
In years when the briefing content does not change, bankriders of racing crews must have been briefed within the last 18 months about their legal responsibilities when participating in the event. Briefed bankriders should come to racedesk to sign out a bib before following their crew and then return the bib to racedesk when finished.
The briefing is based on this presentation .
